Lifeline of Ohio Wins World Record!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - July 15, 2010
Columbus, OH – On June 30, 2010 Guinness World Records™ confirmed that Lifeline of Ohio’s Candlelight Vigil of Hope, Remembrance and Celebration held April 11, 2010 at The Ohio Statehouse, won a Guinness World Record™!
“The Guinness World Record™ attempt was an effort to give donation a statewide platform and touch Ohioans who might not be aware of the need for organ and tissue donors,” said Kent Holloway, CEO of Lifeline of Ohio. “The award is a reflection of central Ohioans’ support of donation.”
Guinness certified that 1,262 candles were successfully lit at the vigil, a new world record for ‘most candles lit simultaneously in a single venue.’ The event, held during Donate Life Month and coinciding with Lifeline of Ohio’s 25th anniversary celebration, was designed to provide hope to those waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant, remembrance for organ and tissue donors, and celebration for transplant recipients who received a second chance at life.
“We would like to thank everyone who joined us for this special event to celebrate the gift of life and shine a light on the importance of organ and tissue donation,” said Holloway.
