Adam Wasielewski always wanted to be in the Army. “He loved playing with his little green Army men,” said his mom, Marcia. “He was fascinated by anything related to the military.”
While Adam never had the chance to be in the Army, a different kind of army will march in his honor at the Dash for Donation July 9. Read More »

I am a nurse and respiratory therapist with OhioHealth. As a member of the medical community I have always been aware of the need for organ and tissue donation. Personally, it has always been an abstract concept — one that is good in theory, but will not be tested in my lifetime. My mom has always been the rock in our family. To describe her is hard — it’s like trying to describe the scent of a rose or the blue of sky. I am not a big competitor. I like to win as much as the next person, but trophies and awards have never been that important to me. Having meaningful work, setting goals and doing my best in pursuit of those goals are what drive me.
Recently, however, I was privileged to be part of a gold medal ceremony at the National Organ Donation Collaborative Meeting in Grapevine, Texas. For the first time, Donate Life America presented gold medals for excellence in donor registries and it was my honor to step up and accept a medal on behalf of the great State of Ohio. What made it more special was that Ohio was one of only six states recognized with a gold medal! Read More »
I recently learned that 5 million Ohioans have registered as organ and tissue donors. 5 million! This is the highest number of registered donors since the inception of the Ohio Donor Registry in 2002. And, it’s cause to celebrate.
5 million registered organ and tissue donors is huge. I just want to take a moment to put that into perspective: Read More »
This past month, Lifeline of Ohio recognized six local BMVs for outstanding work! On behalf of Donate Life Ohio, Lifeline of Ohio presented the 2010 ”Organ, Tissue and Eye Donation Front Line Awards” to BMV Deputy Registrar locations with the highest organ, eye and tissue donation registration rates or greatest improvement in their BMV District.
These awards were as much a commendation of the generosity and compassion of the citizens of central Ohioans as they were to the outstanding commitment of the BMV Deputy Registrar Locations that serve them! Read More »
