Heroes on and Off the Field

Why Heroes?

Because you don’t have to be on the soccer field to be a hero! You can be a hero by saying “yes” to organ and tissue donation. Just one donor has the potential to save eight lives through organ donation and enhance 50 more lives by donating tissue. Transplant recipients everywhere consider their donors to be heroes, giving second chances at life.

Lifeline of Ohio’s partnership with the Columbus Crew this season is centered around our “Heroes On and Off the Field” campaign. The campaign features five players, all heroes on and off the field.

All of our heroes – Danny O’Rourke, Olman Vargas, Julius James, Matt Lampson and Bernardo Añor - are registered organ and tissue donors. You can check out our photo shoot with the players here.

You can be a hero by registering TODAY as an organ and tissue donor.

Living His Dream

Columbus Crew midfielder Bernardo Añor received a tissue transplant in 2008, allowing him to continue playing the game he loves!  You can read his story by clicking here.
