Donation process
Sophie Sheridan was enjoying spring break with her family in April 2007 when she suddenly got sick. On their drive home, the Sheridan's stopped at Nationwide Children's Hospital, and Sophie was hospitalized. She went home two months later, with a new heart, and a new lease on life thanks to her donor. Now, Sophie is able to enjoy hanging out in the park with her sisters.
From Tragedy to Triumph
The process of organ and tissue donation begins with an individual's commitment to share the "Gift of Life." This single decision helps to bring something positive to a tragic situation. There are many people involved in making the process of donation and transplantation a success, but without the heroes of donation, the individuals waiting for a transplant will never experience the triumph that comes from receiving the "Gift of Life."
