Symbols
Rosemary, a liver recipient, proudly showed a green ribbon flag to promote the importance of organ and tissue donation.
Donate Life
Donate Life is not only a logo; it's a call to action. The Donate Life logo is used nationally by Donate Life America to raise awareness of the need for organ and tissue donation and inspire individuals to donate life.
It can be found on public service messages and a wide variety of products, such as lapel pins, t-shirts, hats and bumper stickers. The Association for Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) adopted the Donate Life brand in 2005, applying it to all member organizations. Lifeline of Ohio is A Donate Life Organization.
Green Ribbon
Another symbol associated with organ and tissue donation is the green ribbon pin. Displayed or worn to raise awareness of the growing need for organ and tissue donation, the green ribbon is a symbol of hope to those awaiting a second chance through transplantation; of remembrance for those who died waiting for a transplant; and of gratitude for the heroes of donation, those individuals who shared the "Gift of Life."
The Gift of Life
No words can truly define the meaning of the "Gift of Life," and so we search for symbols to embody the sorrow of those who have lost it, the hope of those who cling to it, and the joy of those who possess it. Throughout hundreds of years of mathematics history, the Infinity Symbol has designated "the value of a quantity that increases without limit." How fitting that Lifeline of Ohio should choose this sign to symbolize its mission for organ and tissue donation and the Gift of Life. It is a gift whose value increases without limit within the lives of those who receive it and the memory of those who share it.
