Walk of Hope Takes Donate Life Message through Chillicothe

Kidney recipient Elizabeth Davis and liver recipient Gaylene Zempter carried the Walk of Hope banner through Chillicothe.

5/1/ 08 -- Nearly 150 walkers didn't let the rain keep them away as they hit the streets of downtown Chillicothe to spread the Donate Life Message during the awareness month Saturday, April 19. The walk stepped off from the Yoctangee Park Shelter House after a short program. Liver recipient Rick Barnes and donor sister Jessica Stephens shared their personal stories. Additionally, Doug Corcoran from the Ross County Commissioners office presented a proclamation recognizing April as Donate Life Month in Chillicothe.

The walkers met at the park's bridge following the walk to release balloons with notes attached, signfying the number of Ohioans who died waiting for transplant in 2007.
