Lifeline of Ohio Becomes a GreenSpot

Lifeline of Ohio (LOOP) recently became a GreenSpot, joining more than 1,200 business and households in central Ohio committed to “going green.”

The GreenSpot program was created in 2008 by Columbus Mayor Michael B. Coleman in conjunction with the Get Green Columbus initiative.  According to the Mayor’s website, the goal of the program is “to inspire, educate and recognize those in our community who are taking steps to get green.”

LOOP is working to get green in all aspects of business, including implementing a recycling program for employees, monitoring energy use, and choosing environmentally-friendly supplies.

“We already had some good measures in place, like our motion-detecting lights,” said Heather Blausey, chair of the GreenSpot task force at LOOP, “but committing to this program helps take us to the next level.”

LOOP has recently added a bike rack for employees and has started posting green tips on the staff intranet.  The organization will continue to look for ways reduce, reuse and recycle!
