Roger's successful heart transplant has allowed him to return to an active life.  He enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Lifeline of Ohio values the time and dedication of our volunteers! With a service area of over 3 million people, there is a vital role that you can play in helping to save the lives of the thousands currently waiting for a second chance through organ and tissue donation. There are a wide variety of ways that you can help as a Lifeline of Ohio volunteer and we want to work with your strengths! Each person has his or her own areas of interest and talents that can help in the overall mission to promote organ and tissue donation. Listed below is a sample of ways in which we utilize volunteers.

Office Projects:

  • Mailings
  • Special Events
  • Scrapbooks
  • Data Entry
  • Filing

Educational Programs:

  • Schools
  • Civic Organizations
  • Churches
  • Hospitals (with Lifeline of Ohio Hospital Relations Representative)
  • Businesses
  • Any other groups interested
  • Health Fair Displays

Other Projects:

  • Special Event Opportunities such as National Donate Life Month (April), National Donor Sabbath, National Minority Donor Awareness Day, and the Dash For Donation event 
  • Media Interviews
  • Delivering Materials to Bureau of Motor Vehicles offices, Doctor's offices, Hospitals, etc.
  • Donor Family Quilt Projects

Training Opportunities:

  • Lifeline of Ohio provides "Let's Talk, Level 1 Workshop: Donation, Transplantation and Volunteering" training workshops at various times throughout the year, and across the donation service area. These workshops last for 5 hours and include a detailed discussion about Lifeline of Ohio and organ and tissue donation. We ask that all volunteers attend at least one of these workshops.
  • The "Let's Talk, Level 2: Ambassadors in Action" training workshop is a more in-depth look at sharing your personal story, working a health fair and delivering an educational program. These workshops are offered at various times throughout the year, too, and last 3 hours.
  • Lifeline of Ohio provides all volunteers with a Volunteer Guidebook. This binder includes specific information about current statistics, Lifeline of Ohio, and a variety of information about organ, tissue, and eye donation.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Volunteers are typically individuals who have a personal experience with organ and tissue donation or individuals who truly believe in the mission and want to help raise awareness about organ and tissue donation.
  • Volunteers support Lifeline of Ohio by participating in programs, events, or internal administrative projects.
  • Volunteers will be expected to perform in cooperation with the organization's staff and comply with the organization's guidelines.
  • Volunteers acting as representatives of the agency serve as a positive ambassador for organ and tissue donation.
  • Volunteers attend at least one Volunteer Development Workshop for in-depth training at the earliest opportunity.
  • Volunteers maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy of their peers and others with whom they come in contact.
