Bureau of Motor Vehicles

drivers_license.jpgThe Bureau of Motor Vehicles is often the first place where people are asked if they want to be an organ and tissue donor. The staff at each agency has a wide range of responsibilities, but this is one aspect of their job that truly saves the lives of others. By asking those who are receiving or renewing their driver's license or state identification card, if they want to be an organ, eye and tissue donor, the Bureau of Motor Vehicle staff is providing hope to the thousands of men, women, and children waiting for a life-saving transplant.

The Bureau of Motor Vehicles' role in the donation process is a partnership that is constantly growing. They are responsible for maintaining the Ohio Donor Registry. The creation of the Ohio Donor Registry means your license or state identification card designation to be a donor is more than just a reminder to family and friends, it is an advanced directive. When you say, "I'm a donor. It's on my license/state identification card," you can be assured your wishes will be honored at the time of your death, if donation is possible.

To the Bureau of Motor Vehicles staff, we say thank you for your on-going support and for making a difference in the lives of those who have been touched by organ and tissue donation! Saving lives wouldn't be possible without your help!

The Donate Life license plate was released in April 2007. It s available for purchase at your local BMV agency or online at http://www.ohiobmv.com.
