Donor Memorial Quilts

Donor mom Linda Carr touches the quilt square designed in honor of her son, Matt, at the annual Donor Family Reception.

The American quilt has for generations captured the spirit and emotions of its creators. An art form born of necessity, the modern quilt has become a vehicle for interpreting our connection between the past and present.

Lifeline of Ohio honors that connection between the past and the present through the creation of patchwork quilts. Each panel memorializes the individuals who have passed on "the Gift of Life" to others through the medical miracle of transplantation. Each "memory square" is a tribute to the altruistic human spirit that embodies organ and tissue donation.

Each day, 18 people - men, women, and children - die while waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. These deaths can be prevented. By registering your decision and sharing your wishes about organ and tissue donation with your family, you could one day help save or enhance the lives of others, like the "unsung heroes" honored on these quilts.

Organ donation saves lives.

The Lifeline of Ohio Donor Memorial Quilts are intended to honor the local individuals who have made a decision to give the "Gift of Life." We currently have nine donor quilts that families have created in honor of their family member. If your loved one was an organ or tissue donor within the Lifeline of Ohio service area and you are interested in creating a quilt square in their memory, please visit Creating Your Donor Quilt Square for guidelines.

The Lifeline of Ohio Donor Memorial Quilts are available for public exhibits and events. Please contact us to arrange for a quilt display in your area.
